Today was a special day in many respects, not just because we had a good breeze, calm waters, well behaved competitors and great racing all ably run by Greg, but mainly because it marked the 70th birthday of Chris Treagust.
As some will know, Chris is a man of many talents radio sailing being one of them. He is the overall winner of the 2022 IOM cup now freshly engraved and inscribed with his name.
One of four founding fathers of Emsworth Radio Sailing, Chris is also a skilled carpenter and boat builder and recently built his own house.
Owner of a long line of IOMs including a beautiful Triple Crown, he also takes care of the non speaking members of ERS who float around on the millpond day in and day out to guide our racing and occasional entrap the unwary sailor.
I am unable to sign off this post without paying tribute to Chris' daughter Rachel who helped plan the event. I was instructed to meet up with her this morning, and when I asked for some clue as to what she may look like, I was told: 'its all right Malcolm, you will know her when you see her'. And I did...
Chris - Many happy returns from ERS
